Dog Days are O-Over!

posted on: Friday, December 16, 2011

Hello darlings,
As a fashion merchandising major I get the grand opportunity to use my creativity and explore different sides of fashion. For my final project this year in Apparel Quality Analysis, I completed an assignment called "What's Hiding In Your Closet?" where I had to analyze clothing for structural quality and garment defects as well. But one amazing part was the photo shoot I got to do with my clothes! I took Lady (my beautiful wire manikin) around town dressed in her finest...or my finest ha! It was an amazing learning experience and a great way to delve creatively into my major after a stressful semester. This is my final hoorah since school is over and now I'm looking forward to lots of books, present making, and long walks with my mom along Bluff Drive, at Isle of Hope. Y'all enjoy and be inspired!

Seeds of Hope

Today Katherine and I had the pleasure of going to a Seeds of Hope jewelry party hosted my her friend Merry Teague.  The beads on display were handmade by widows in Uganda, Africa, using small strips of magazine pages.  The donations for the jewelry go to support the women in Africa through education and economic empowerment! And with just $30 the proceeds can feed one widow and 5 orphans for a month....I can't manage to spend less than $40 a week on my own groceries! But the party was beautifully hosted and I got some wonderful one-of-a-kind finds!

The Day After Tomorrow

posted on: Tuesday, November 29, 2011

As the weather has gotten colder my motivation has started to wear a little thin, however the dreariness of today inspired me to admire the eerie beauty of chilly winter that is starting in Athens.  This week as the final projects commence I plan to stay motivated, as my grades cannot afford for me not to be! I enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving back in Savannah this past week though, wonderful time with friends, family, and had the chance to make new friends.  The small town closeness and familiarity is always comforting to fall back into, and as always fabulous to hear about all the gossip. But here is my blog toast to the winter months before us, and to the wonderful fashion and beauty that always surrounds us.

French Cuisine

This morning my goal was to relax and indulge, so I made a recipe I found on Pinterest called French Toast Muffins from the blog Velvet Lava Cafe. Once the dough was in the oven an aroma like funnel cakes filled my apartment. After 25 minutes, and a few minutes to cool, I served it to Colleen, my roommate, with melted butter and cinnamon sugar. They literally melted in our mouths!! Check out Velvet Lava Cafe to get the recipe! This weekend I also plan to make Quinoa burgers and Zucchini melts, all recipes compliments of Pinterest! My weekend is looking busy with lots of school work, lucky Athens will be a ghost town because of the Ga vs. Fl game, no temptations thank goodness! Love to all xoxo A

Dip the muffin in the melted butter....

Followed by dipping in the cinnamon sugar....

Abbey Road

Last night Katherine and I went to the Georgia Theatre and saw the Beatles cover band, Abbey Road! The show was amazing, the Georgia Theatre renovations are amazing, and it was a perfect night. We both rocked maxi dresses, the perfect way to keep us a bit warm for the chilly walk home.

Check out the Georgia Theatre for upcoming shows! http://georgiatheatre.com/

Singing in the Rain

This week will be rainy and dreary daily in Athens, getting me in the mood for Fall and Winter! Pumpkin muffins, pumpkin waffles, and pumpkin coffee has been spicing up the cool air of our apartment. Ella Fitzgerald has been on repeat and the candles have stayed lit. Staying cozy is my top priority for the week, as well as showing off my new rain boots! They are army green Nine West and the best consignment find from Cherry Picked in Savannah, GA, enjoy my coordination's for them this week!
